Here is a transparent moment… I have the ability to be lazy. There I said it. And it’s true. My love for relaxation can turn into laziness at the drop of a dime. Honestly, I had to learn how to sit and be still a long time ago because of the nature of my job. It took a lot out of me and I had to learn how to relax for my own well being and mental health. This new skill, as I like to call it, just fed the part of myself that can be lazy.
Prepare A Place
I’ve been listening to “Stand Up” from the Harriet movie on repeat lately. The more I listen, the more the sting of the lyrics get to me. Right now we are experiencing societal unrest. There is a lot of pain and turmoil that comes when witnessing heinous acts.
Perspective
Today is my birthday. So far, in 35 years, 35 birthdays to remember…this is by far the best. It’s not because of the gifts I’ve received or what was done for me. It’s because in 35 years, for the first time, I have TRULY left all expectation at the door.
Quality Time
As I sit here with my oldest, I was reading a post about how intentional we should be with this extra time that we have. There is a lot to say about this corona virus. People are hurting financially, children and families are lacking basic needs, parents are frustrated that they have to actually take care of their children while balancing work from home, and some others are just frustrated that they have to take care of their children. There is a lot of uncertainty. There is a fear of the unknown and a valid concern of what the future holds. There are a lot of challenges that people are experiencing in general.
Your Best Yes, God’s Best No
He doesn’t say no to keep good things from us. He’s our Father and desires good things for his children. His “no” is protection, grace, mercy, and love. It’s kind, gentle, and perfect. His “no” comes with A LOT of YES. And I believe our response to the “no” is what determines if we are ready for more.
It’s been a long time…
It’s been a long time since I’ve written something other than a song. I wanted to return sooner but I’m glad I didn’t.
