These seasons are truly sacred because we can either draw closer to the Father or end up falling further away because we get in our own way and don’t seek His face in the quiet spaces. I’m still in a place of figuring things out and distractions are abundant these days. I have to just start somewhere and let God lead me and in the moments I have to be still, when it’s quiet, I need to take advantage and seek His face. I need to be more intentional about praying and spending time in His word until I hear my next set of instructions from him.
I think that is what this pandemic has given us all-an opportunity to realign our focus and get back to where we need to be. Have you taken advantage of this opportunity? What have you done during this time to find your way back to God and His true intentions for your life? Are you still lost in worry about what’s next, or are you looking to him in the present and finding joy again? Are you seeking his presence and relying on HIS strength to get you through, or are you trying to be superwoman/superman to “fix” what has been broken by this pandemic?
I am currently on a self reflecting journey right now. I’ve been active for so long in the church and it seems as though I am not on an unintended sabbatical. This is actually so good for me. Here is a transparent moment… I have the ability to be lazy. There I said it. And it’s true. My love for relaxation can turn into laziness at the drop of a dime. Honestly, I had to learn how to sit and be still a long time ago because of the nature of my job. It took a lot out of me and I had to learn how to relax for my own well being and mental health. This new skill, as I like to call it, just fed the part of myself that can be lazy.
I’ve been listening to “Stand Up” from the Harriet movie on repeat lately. The more I listen, the more the sting of the lyrics get to me. Right now we are experiencing societal unrest. There is a lot of pain and turmoil that comes when witnessing heinous acts.
Today is my birthday. So far, in 35 years, 35 birthdays to remember…this is by far the best. It’s not because of the gifts I’ve received or what was done for me. It’s because in 35 years, for the first time, I have TRULY left all expectation at the door.
What area do you lack confidence in? Is there anything, or do you have it all together? You might but, I think if we all look deeper, there are areas in our lives that we can look at and speak life into. It could be in how we feel about our looks, success in our jobs, marriage, or raising our children. I challenge you to choose an area you’ve been speaking negatively into and find 3 ways you can renew your mind with phrases or scriptures you can speak over yourself.
